Harold C. Stone, 66, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at his home in Tupper Lake.
Born on June 17, 1947 in Malone, he was the son of Clayton and Stella (LaMay) Stone. Harold was a graduate of Franklin Academy in 1967 and was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. In 1978 he entered the New York National Guard and worked with them through the 1980 Olympics being discharged in 1992.
Harold was employed for New York state in Wassaic then later transferring to Sunmount D.D.S.O., where he worked as a developmental aide until his retirement for health reasons.
He was married to the former Deborah Denny of Malone.
He is survived by two children: Michael of Greenwood, Ind. and Christine Cole and her husband Russell of Bloomingdale; two grandchildren: Heavyn Faith Stone and Damon Cole and two brothers: Lynn Stone of Albany and Terry Stone of North Carolina.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, a son Cory Bruce Stone and a brother Wayne Stone.
Calling hours are scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23 with a funeral service at 5 p.m. at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home in Tupper Lake. Burial will be in Notre Dame cemetery in Malone with full military honors in the spring.
