William C. LeRoy Sr.

William Charles LeRoy Sr., of Route 37, Malone, was called home to his Heavenly Father in the comfort and support of his loving family on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013.

He was born in Syracuse on Oct. 13, 1940, son of William and Margaret LeRoy.

On July 17, 1965, he was united to Theresa Mary Gallagher of Albany, in the sacrament of Matrimony at St. Teresa's Church.

He graduated from Saranac Lake High School, Paul Smith's College and Albany College of Pharmacy. He worked in Saranac Lake while in high school as a pharmacist apprentice at Hoffman's Pharmacy and upon college graduation continued working there as a pharmacist. In 1968 he accepted a job as chief pharmacist at Alice Hyde Medical Center and at Mansion Nursing Home (later known as Franklin County Nursing Home, retiring after 36 years of service. Bill was a communicant of Malone Catholic Parishes. In his prime, he was an avid downhill skier and water skier and enjoyed cruising in his many sport cars. Summers were spent boating on Chateaugay Lake, a treasured retreat. Bill's greatest pleasure was spending quality time with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren. He was a proud member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks 1303 for many years. In later life, he became a television aficionado.

William is survived by his wife Theresa; son William Charles Jr. and spouse Marlene Labombard LeRoy and their two children: Will and Ellie; a son Jeffrey Peter and his spouse Aimee Dumont LeRoy and their three children: Ciara, Sydney and Carson; a daughter Paddy Reynolds, her spouse Michael and their two girls: Sarah and Lauren, all of Malone; a sister Vesta Mason and her spouse Charles of Malone; as well as many nieces and nephews.

His mother and father predeceased him.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at St. Mary-Murphy-Wilcox Funeral Home in Malone with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at St. Joseph's Church, also in Malone at 10 a.m. The Rev. Thomas J. Higman, parochial vicar will be officiating. Burial will follow mass at St. Joseph's Cemetery on Fort Covington Street.
