BluSeed Studios presents Spuyten Duyvil at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Hailing from the Hudson Valley, Spuyten Duyvil's (pronounced "Spite + n Dive + l", soaring vocals, traditional jug band energy, blistering slide guitar and Chicago-style blues harp propel the listener on a barn-burning romp through the last 100 years of American Roots music.
Their 2011 release, "New Amsterdam" was a DJ favorite, receiving enthusiastic airplay on more than 165 stations in five countries and a "Top American Roots Album 2011" nomination from The Alternate Root TV. The band highly anticipated follow up, "Temptation" has been eagerly embraced by radio, receiving play on 30 stations across three continents in its first two weeks out.
Stops on the journey that began on a front porch with a Bouzouki and a copy of "Rise Up Singing" include the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival, The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Caramoor's American Roots Music Festival, Mad. Sq. Park, Levitt Pavilion Steelstacks, Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts and Musikfest. According to legendary WXPN Folk DJ, Gene Shay, "They are the hottest new band in folk music ... and one of the best".
