December 4, 2013
Associated Press

MORIAH (AP) - State police and fire officials say a 22-year-old woman has died in a fire that destroyed a home in northern New York.

Troopers say the fire was reported around 5 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the Essex County town of Moriah, on Lake Champlain.

Police Tuesday afternoon say 22-year-old Sierra Daha of Moriah Center was found dead on the second floor. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Troopers say 81-year-old Mary Daha, the victim's grandmother, and 20-year-old Damian Sprague escaped unhurt. Police say Sprague was the victim's boyfriend.

Police told the Press-Republican of Plattsburgh that the origin of the fire was considered suspicious.

Investigators are searching for a cause.
