Ward G. Wilbur

Ward Guy Wilbur, 65, of Adirondack Loj Road, Lake Placid, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, in Saranac Lake.

He was born in Lake Placid on Dec. 28, 1947, the son of Ward E. Wilbur and Dorice (Wescott) Torrance.

Ward was a graduate of Lake Placid High School, Class of 1965. He attended Plattsburgh State University prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force. Ward loved fishing, reading and watching ball games on Sunday with his mother. He was a house painter by trade, painting houses around the Tri-Lakes Area. Ward was very good with his computer, and much of the time you could find him working on it. He was also an excellent horticulturist.

Ward is survived by his mother, Dorice Torrance; five sisters: Alta Dostal and her husband Arthur, Carol Hoffman and her husband Doug, Lynda Rooney and her husband Michael, Brenda Erickson and her husband Steven and Janet Good; two brothers: Arti Torrance and Loren Torrance and his wife Laurie; and several aunts uncles, nieces nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Ward E. Wilbur; his stepfather, Loren Torrance; his sister, Marsha Davis; his maternal grandparents, Guy and Alta Wescott; his paternal grandmother, Alice Phillips; hand is paternal stepgrandparents, Walter and Marie Torrance.

Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at the M. B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. John Martin, pastor of the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid, will officiate. Burial will be in North Elba Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Adirondack Community Church or the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department in his memory.
