Mary Ellen Villeneuve, 86, of Tupper Lake passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at Mercy Living Center.
Born Aug. 9, 1927 in Waterbury, Conn., she was the daughter of Willus and Bernice (Farrell) Ackerman. Mary Ellen moved to Tupper Lake in 1930s, graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1945 and had resided here ever since.
In 1952, she married Ernie Villeneuve. Mrs. Villeneuve was employed by the Tupper Lake National Bank for several years. She was a very independent person and was a friend to anyone in need. She will be missed by all her family and her close friends.
She is survived by one son, Charles and his wife Elizabeth of Central Square; one daughter Cherie Gratzer and her husband Robert of Whitsett, N.C. and a daughter in law Susan Villeneuve; five grandchildren: Vanessa, Candace, Kevin, Jeffrey and Christine; six great-grandchildren: Taylor, Nicole, Natalie, Noelle, Nina and Chase; and close friends and neighbors for 25 years, Jim and Alice Lemieux.
She was predeceased by her husband Ernie and good friend Bill Beaudette.
Calling hours are scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, with a funeral service at 3 p.m. at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society.
