WILMINGTON - Organizers called Whiteface Mountain's annual Oktoberfest this weekend a success.
"It's been going great," Whiteface's Lauren Garfield said Sunday afternoon. "Yesterday was phenomenal."
About 3,600 people attended Saturday, which was almost a record, Garfield said. She said Sunday is always a little slower, and rain didn't help, but there were still plenty of people coming.

Vendors in outside tents hunkered down in the rain. Visitors sought shelter in a large tent set up with rows of tables and a stage for bands to play, as a traditional German festival band called die Schlauberger sang about rain and snow and beckoned people to come dance.
Inside, accordion and guitar players in traditional Bavarian dress like Lederhosen serenaded people seeking shelter from the rain in the Whiteface lodge's Cloudspin Lounge.
Stephanie Calabrese was visiting from Milton, starting a vacation in Lake Placid with a stop at Oktoberfest in Wilmington. She said the rain wasn't ideal, but she was having a good time anyway.
"It's just been a lot of fun, people having a great time," Garfield said.
