TLCIL will stop transportation

October 3, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

At the end of December, the Tri-Lakes Center for Independent Living will discontinue its transportation program, which has provided free, accessible transportation from the Tri-Lakes to shopping destinations in Malone and Plattsburgh, as well as limited transportation to medical appointments, for the past three years. Our decision to end this program was made after considering a variety of factors, including the exorbitant cost of maintaining and running the vehicle, as well as the fact that Franklin and Essex counties both administer transportation programs that provide low-cost, accessible transportation that can be utilized by persons with disabilities to shop and attend medical appointments.

We would like to thank the individuals who have utilized our transportation program for their patronage and generous donations to the center. It has been our pleasure to provide you with this service for the past three years, and we look forward to serving you in other capacities in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Nathan Cox
