No to land swap

October 1, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

Voters are not hearing the full story. NYCO has another mine called Oak Hill. They have not even begun mining it. There is no mention of it on their website, yet their 2006 "25 Year Plan" predicts 4.5 million tons of ore delivered to their Willsboro plant by the year 2031. If the amendment does not pass, NYCO isn't going anywhere. No one is getting laid off.

"Forever wild" does not mean strip mine. The land swap amendment is not about increasing the size of the Jay Wilderness. It's all about more profit and more land for NYCO.
