Forest rangers are continuing to search for Scott Haworth, a Massachusetts man who is believed to have gone missing while hiking in the Dix Mountain Wilderness Area.

Haworth, of Chicopee, Mass., was last seen at the Valley Grocery in Keene Valley on Sept. 5. State police later found his car, a 2002 Ford Escort, parked at the Round Pond Trailhead to the Dix Mountain Wilderness on Sept. 10.

Haworth was last seen at work on Aug. 25, where he is employed at a bulk mail center in Springfield, according to Chicopee police. He was reported missing a week later after not showing up to work.

In the days after his car was found at the Round Pond Trailhead, state police and forest rangers worked together to search the Dix Mountain Wilderness. The state police Special Operations Response Team, state police helicopters and a K-9 unit were used in the search.

As of last Sunday, the operation was scaled back, although not ended.

"We just have forest rangers on individual assignments, to check certain drainages or certain areas," said state Department of Environmental Conservation spokesman Dave Winchell.

State police spokeswoman Jennifer Fleishman said no new clues have been found and investigators are still working the case.

She said police are still asking for the public's help.

Anyone who may have seen Haworth, have any information about him or any items that may belong to the lost hiker can call the New York State Police in Ray Brook at 518-897-2000.
