Searchers found the dead body of 45-year-old Christopher Moore of Malone Thursday evening in the town of Duane.

A search was initiated for Moore at 12:30 a.m. Thursday after his family reported him missing.

Moore planned to go fishing and was dropped off Wednesday afternoon on Franklin County Route 27 in Duane. He was supposed to be picked up later that day in the same location. When he did not show up, his family called state police.

An extensive search ensued, including a state police K-9 unit, forest rangers, volunteers from the Duane Volunteer Fire Department and federal Homeland Security aviation.

At 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Moore's body was found on private property in a wooded area near Route 27.

An investigation to determine the manner of death is still ongoing.
