To the editor:
I live in North Carolina and vacation in Tupper Lake most every year. I tell my family and friends in North Carolina and South Carolina how beautiful the Adirondack Mountains are and how much there is to do there. Almost all of them ask me about opportunities to ride their bicycles in the Adirondack Mountains. I would love to be able to tell them about the new rail trail, but it doesn't exist. Not yet anyway.
I've spoken to a lot of people who live here, and they ALL want the rail trail to become a reality. It's a no-brainer that a new trail system would be a much-needed boost to the struggling economy here. It would be so much fun to hike, ride a bike or snowmobile on a well-groomed trail from one town to another or to a camping area, pond, river, lake and the list goes on. Please make the rail trail a reality!
