MASSENA - Tupper Lake didn't have a lot of problems moving the football during Saturday's Section X game at Massena. But when it came to playing defense, the Lumberjacks had no answer to a rushing attack led by JP Reagan and an air assault spearheaded by quarterback Rory Corcoran.
Reagan, a senior, piled up more than 300 yards on the ground and ran for three touchdowns, while Corcoran tossed three scoring strikes to receiver Josh Manley as Massena rolled to a 47-20 victory over Tupper Lake.
The Red Raiders improved to 2-0 with the win, while the Lumberjacks dropped to 1-1.

Reagan raced 80 yards for a touchdown on Massena's first offensive play of the game, and Corcoran connected with Manley three times for scores as Massena built up a 27-6 lead at halftime. Reagan then started off the second half like he did the game, bolting 64 yards to paydirt on the first snap of the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
The 'Jacks did finish strong, getting a pair of rushing touchdowns from sophomore running back Brasen LaVassaur in the fourth quarter to make the outcome a bit easier to swallow.
"We held them at times, but their big plays hurt us," Tupper Lake head coach Dennis Klossner said. "We faced an explosive team today. They put us in a hole early, but we kept coming back. We had 25 kids out there giving it their all. They all played hard, and I was proud to see that."
Behind the passing of Morgan Stevens and the running of Jeremy Roussell, Tupper Lake marched down the field on the first possession of the game. However, a 'Jacks drive that started on their own 37 ended with Massena in the end zone when a Stevens pass was picked off by Matt Thibault.
With the ball at the 20, the Red Raiders promptly reached the end zone when Reagan sprinted around the left side of his line and broke free for an 80-yard touchdown run.
The Lumberjacks went three-and-out on their next possession and a punt set up Massena's offense at its own 31. Seven plays later, the Red Raiders scored on a 48-yard toss from Corcoran to Manley, and Reagan followed with the conversion run to give the hosts a 14-0 edge with 7:05 gone in the game.
The Lumberjacks answered on their next possession, driving 75 yards in seven plays with Stevens connecting with senior receiver Mitch Keniston on a 22-yard touchdown pass. Tupper Lake came up empty on the two-point conversion play, leaving Massena with a 14-6 lead with 2:27 left in the opening quarter.
Manley, a junior, hauled in two more touchdown passes from Corcoran during the second quarter on plays that covered 27 and 28 yards.
If the Lumberjacks had any hopes of rallying after halftime, they ended early when Reagan rambled 64 yards into the end zone to kick off the third quarter. He also scored on a 2-yard run on his team's next possession to lift the hosts into a 41-6 lead.
With the game out of reach, Tupper Lake's second units took the field in the fourth quarter and put two touchdowns on the board as LaVassaur scored on runs of 31 and three yards. Sophomore backup quarterback Noah Santana also tossed a pass to Kevin Becker on a two-point conversion play following LaVassaur's second touchdown, which came with 15 seconds left on the game clock.
Massena's second offense also put one touchdown on the board, with junior Isaiah Dillabough scoring on a 28-yard run with 3:55 remaining in the contest.
"JP Reagan just loves football," said Massena head coach Anthony Diagostino, whose Red Raiders opened the season with a 21-0 shutout victory over Malone. "During the summer, he put in time at the weight room, he attended some football camps, and it's paying off. He is just running well.
"We had a big win last week to get going, and coming in to this game, our goal was to get better," Diagostino said. "We got better at passing, our line played great, and we played with emotion. Our goal now is to get better heading into our next game."
Despite the loss, Klossner said the Lumberjacks showed plenty of promise of the field. He did, however, say, that missed tackles hurt the Lumberjacks for the second straight week.
"We moved the ball, but problems again rose from the defensive end," Klossner said. "Morgan did a nice job managing the game, Jeremy did a good job running the football, we just need to wrap up on defense."
The Red Raiders piled up 566 total yards on offense, while the Lumberjacks combined for 338 offensive yards.
Reagan finished the day with 309 yards rushing on just 12 carries. Corcoran completed six of his 10 passing attempts for 134 yards.
Keniston topped Tupper Lake's offensive players, gaining 128 yards on nine receptions. Roussell paced the Lumberjacks on the ground with 77 yards on 16 carries, and LaVassaur added 53 rushing yards on five attempts. Stevens finished the day with 19 completions on 35 attempts for 202 passing yards. He was intercepted twice, the second time by Massena's Kevin Becker.
The Red Raiders put their 2-0 mark on the line when they next face St. Lawrence Central on Saturday. The Lumberjacks will look to rebound in their next game, which will be at Ogdensburg Friday.
