LAKE PLACID - Stuart Baird and Nzoni Thompson each scored early in the first half to lead the Lake Placid boys soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Elizabethtown-Lewis on Monday.
Baird put the Blue Bombers on the board in the 10th minute after taking a pass from Ryan Damp. Thompson, a junior, extended the lead five minutes later with an unassisted goal.
Chris Kordziel earned the win in goal for Lake Placid after stopping all four of the shots he faced. The Blue Bombers held a 14-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Saranac Lake 3, Beekmantown 0
BEEKMANTOWN - The Saranac Lake boys soccer team picked up its second win of the season Monday with a 3-0 victory over Beekmantown.
The Red Storm, who opened the season Friday with a 2-1 win over Northeastern Clinton, scored all three goals in the second half Monday.
Bradley Shumway, a senior, broke the scoreless tie at the 10:57 mark of the second half on a pass from junior Ethan Sawyer. Aaron Noel scored eight minutes later and Devin Cowan put the game out of reach with a goal 37 minutes into the second half.
Oliver Holmes earned the shutout in goal for the Red Storm with 11 saves. The Eagles outshot Saranac Lake 19-15.
The Red Storm improved to 2-0 with the win.
