Hobofest thanks

September 10, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

We'd like to thank our partners, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who worked to make the fifth annual Hobofest happen.

Generous support from Cape Air, Hannaford, CED Electric, Rice Furniture, the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, Casella Resource Solutions and the village of Saranac Lake police helped to make the event a success. Thanks to Dan Reilly (HomEnergy), Jeremy Schmidt (Upstate Vinyl Graphics), Greg Moore (Bear Essentials), Jeff Oehler and Sue Bibeau (Beehive Productions), the Halasz family (Sunita, Steve, Galen and Oliver), Carol Vossler (BluSeed Studios), Gail Brill (Saranac Lake Farmers Market), Peter Crowley (Adirondack Daily Enterprise) and volunteers (Rob, Erik, Kevin) from Paul Smiths who helped with the parking.

Our musicians from near and far delivered heartfelt performances and were especially inspired by this community. Special thanks to the band, Lucid, for intercepting Mamie Minch en route on the train from New York City and accompanying her onstage.

Russ Feher's Fine Line Audio ran the soundboard and built our stage. Taylor Rental provided cover from the elements with the big top. Chef John Vargo, Colleen and crew from Eat 'n' Meet Grill & Larder cooked under a summer sun, with C.J. Smith, Ed and Vickie Oles, Kathy Ford and Kathy Steinbrueck providing refreshments. Tim Fortune along with his wife Diana, Hilary Smith and Mark Coleman helped to support the event through the sales of merchandise. Thanks to Mayor Clyde Rabideau for his mayoral address.

Hobofest is a project of Adirondack Sustainable Communities Inc., which provides fiscal sponsorship enabling the receipt of funding from a grant offered by the New York State Council of the Arts, administered by North Country Cultural Center for the Arts.

Hilary Smith and Karen Davidson, the organizers' wives, indulge us in continuing this event. We're honored that this day shows our community of Saranac Lake at its very best! We will see you on Aug. 31, 2014, for the sixth annual Hobofest!
