Farm 2 Fork thanks

September 10, 2013

To the editor:

Sometimes when I think about how amazing this community is, I well up. How incredibly blessed we are to live in such an amazing place, surrounded by beauty and amidst such wonderful people. It really does take my breath away from time to time. When the call goes out for help, the people answer with time, talents and commitment. That was the case, again for this year's Farm 2 Fork Festival last Saturday.

I thank you all: Susan Mitchell, Holly Huber, Jason Brill, Sam Hendren, Amy Quinn, Amy Kohanski, Rosalie Fontana, Corey Iaria, Brandon DeVito, Chris Morris, Yvona Fast, Mary Lawthers, Maragret Worden, Susan Hahn, Bruce Young, Shamim Allen, Craig Bailey, Joy, Sklar and Summer Cranker, Joyce Henklein, Susan Arnold, Judi MacIntosh, Kelly Hofschneider, Franny Preston, Paul Van Cott, Phil Newton, Steve DeHond, Elaine Holmlund, Dianne Fortado, Andy Keal, Jackie and Eric Foster, Carol Bodah, Kathy Ford, Leslie Karasin, Chad McCarthy, Andy Keal, Shannon Bartholemew, Jenny Curtis, Saranac Lake High School Green Team - Ivy Huber, Gina Fiorillo, Samantha Martin and Rachel Dalton - Julia Goren, Sarah Reynolds, Steve Erman, Margot Gold, Susan Moody, George Bryjak, Diane Bryjak, Kathy Craft, Cris Winters and her mom Jo, Susan Moody, Denise Griffin, Rose Bartiss, Britanny Harris, Dana Fast, Dylan Brownell, Karen Boldis, Jess Cook, Julie Weinstein and Zachary Churco, Peter Hahn, Tina Scammel, Liz Murray, Linnae Hamilton, Judy Rush, Sarah Curtis, Pat Peebles, Lauren Richard, Kristel Jamara and Adrien Vlach. And if I left anyone off this list, forgive me; you know I love you, too.

Events like these really do take a village. Big thanks to the AuSable Valley Grange, which is our partner in this event, Mayor Clyde Rabideau, Corinne Tyler, John Sweeney and the village of Saranac Lake, the Saranac Lake Police Department, the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department, the Church of St. Luke, our media sponsors North Country Public Radio, Brad and Travis at Taylor Rental, Petrova Elementary School, New York State Department of Health, Jake Stanbro and Jim Thompson of Nonna Fina, Compass Printing Plus, Desperados, Nori's Village Market, and the Dumond farmers of Windy Knoll Farm, Fledging Crow Vegetables, Harmony Hills Farmstead, Juniper Hill Farm, Harrington's Farm, Campbell's Greenhouse, South Meadow Farm, McCollom's Market, North Brook Farm, Rulf's Orchard, Prosper's Creamery, Byrne Dairy and Birdsfoot Farm.

And lastly, old-time blues and Dixieland band Tuba Skinny who, lucky for us, were passing through our area on their way back to New Orleans. What a perfect partner in this year's festival! (I've got my fingers crossed we can get them back again next year!)

Don't forget to check our Facebook page, "Farm 2 Fork Festival in Saranac Lake," or our website for photos and additional information, www.farm2forkfestival.com.

Mark your calendars for next year's Farm 2 Fork Fest on Aug. 30, 2014, Riverside Park, in the best place on earth!
