Boil-water order for Olive, Leona streets in Saranac Lake

September 4, 2013
By staff , Adirondack Daily Enterprise

SARANAC LAKE - The state Health Department issued a boil water order for some residents in the Olive Street area after a water main break Tuesday.

The order applies to all residents on Leona Street and residents on two sections of Olive Street: from Sumner Lane to William Street, and from William Street to 92 Olive St.

Residents were advised to not drink the water without boiling it first.

The order was issued as a precaution because the water main break interrupted water service and caused low water line pressures, creating the possibility that contamination may have entered the distribution system.

The order will be lifted after normal water service has been restored and after two consecutive daily samples show no bacteriological contamination.
