Riley was a good and thoughtful justice

August 17, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

As a practicing attorney, I have had occasion to appear before former town of Harrietstown Justice Howard Riley. To that end, I have always found Justice Riley to be a responsible, compassionate and intelligent judge who made it a point to be respectful to all the parties appearing before him. He is a native of the Saranac Lake area, the father of six boys raised in the area, and he has a deep understanding of the region as well as the nuances in the types of cases a town justice is called upon to adjudicate. It is my measured opinion that town courts would do well to have more justices evincing the thoughtful consideration I experienced coming from the bench whenever Justice Riley was presiding.

Yours very truly,

Brian P. Barrett
