SARANAC LAKE - The 58th annual Come to the Fair, a popular summer event held at the Saranac Lake Free Library, 109 Main St., will offer thousands of hardcover and paperback books for sale, along with DVDs, videos, CDs, white elephant items, jewelry, puzzles, games and baked goods.
Attendees will enter at the back of the library. Baked goods will be sold in the Community Room Opening Day until all items are sold.
Committee chairs for the Saranac Lake Free Library’s Come to the Fair, Aug. 6 to 8, are shown with pennants showing fair specialties. The 2013 fair salutes the Tri-Lakes Humane Society, with Lena Bombard, Humane Society manager, kneeling right, next to Marlene Hyde, Humane Society board, and two young animal lovers with shelter kittens.
The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. The third day many books will be sold at reduced prices.
A special opening for those who have contributed to the 2013 Membership Campaign at the supporting $40 level or higher will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, as the board's way of saying thank you for yearly financial support.
The Adirondack Research Room will be selling many duplicate Adirondack books in the Dickert Room during Members Night, and throughout the sale. Come early for the best selection.
Fair theme honors Humane Society
This year the committee's theme will salute the Tri-Lakes Humane Society with many cats, dogs and other assorted pets "Looking for a New Home," and many books and other items at the fair also "Looking for a New Home!"
Chances may be purchased on a cedar picnic table with attached seats also looking for a home built by members of the Carpentry Vocational Program at the New York State Adirondack Correctional Facility. Tickets are $1 or 6 for $5. The drawing will take place on Aug. 8.

Baked goods will be received after 8 a.m. Tuesday, opening day.
Please, no more books until after the summer sale, as the committee is busy sorting the books that have already been dropped off.
Book prices will remain the same, with hardcovers selling for $1.75, and paperbacks for 75 cents. Special books will be individually priced. Children's hardcovers will sell for 50 cents; soft covers, 25 cents; and newer, green-dot items $1.
The fair is a community event that involves hundreds of people who contribute items, bake their specialties, set up and volunteer at the sale, and, of course, Come to the Fair! All proceeds benefit the Saranac Lake Free Library.
