Katherine Ann Wiley received her Ph.D. in anthropology with a minor in African studies from Indiana University in May 2013.
Her research focuses on women's work and social status in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. During her graduate work, Wiley conducted research in Mauritania that was funded by the Wenner-Gren Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and the West African Research Association.
Wiley graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1996. She will begin a postdoctoral fellowship in the fall at the Carter G. Woodson Institute for African-American and African Studies at the University of Virginia.
