Four teens and an adult woman are being charged with trespassing at the former Camp Gabriels after one of the teens allegedly smashed a window there.
Amanda L. Irvine, 39, of Rainbow Lake, a 16-year-old male from Rainbow Lake and three 15-year-olds were charged Tuesday with criminal trespass in the third degree, a class B misdemeanor.
The 16-year-old was also charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor, for allegedly breaking the window. State Trooper John Moody said the teen didn't use a tool to break the window.
Moody said the group drove in on a UTV, which is a small farm-type vehicle that fits several people, and they entered one of the buildings there on two occasions.
"They really didn't do anything; that's why it's not a burglary," Moody said. "They just walked around. There's really nothing in those buildings."
The former minimum-security prison was closed in 2009, and despite it going to auction several times and a Brighton-based task force working to find reuses for the facility, nothing has yet come to fruition.
The incident was reported at 11:20 a.m. on July 1.
Irvine and the teens were ticketed to appear in Brighton town court at a later date.
