Guideboat golf

RAY BROOK - Matt Burnett didn't let a little water stop him from getting in a round Wednesday morning at the Saranac Lake Golf Club in Ray Brook. He overcame flooding on the fifth, seventh and eighth holes by chipping onto the green from his Adirondack guideboat.

The artist and outdoor guide, who lives in Saranac Lake, sent the Enterprise photos of the feat, taken with the help of local resident Spencer Morrissey. He said he finished the nine-hole course with a score in the 40s.

Burnett said he was following his personal motto: "Be prepared ... but seize the day."

The guideboat has been in his family for generations.
