Buzzzfest, monarch migration film at Wild Center

TUPPER LAKE - The Wild Center will celebrate some of your favorite creepy crawlies, at BuzzzFest on Saturday.

BuzzzFest will be a day of fun with something to entertain, delight and perhaps gross out people of all ages. BuzzzFest honors the creatures that make the world go round, from dragonflies to honey bees and all the buzzing, chirping and crawling things in between. This year there is a special tip of the antennae to butterflies and the amazing monarch clan.

BuzzzFest will also host the Adirondack premiere of the film "Flight of the Butterflies." The monarch butterfly is a true marvel of nature. Weighing less than a penny, it makes one of the longest migrations on Earth across a continent to a place it has never known. Follow the monarchs' perilous journey and join hundreds of millions of real butterflies in the remote mountain peaks of Mexico, with breathtaking cinematography from an award-winning team including Oscar winner Peter Parks. Be captivated by the true and compelling story of an intrepid scientist's 40-year search to find the monarchs' secret hideaway. Unravel the mysteries and experience the Flight of the Butterflies.

There will be special performances by Billy B, natural science song and dance man, throughout the day. Sure to captivate audiences of all ages, Billy B. blends zany humor, dances and original songs with solid science for a captivating and unforgettable exploration of the environment. Come learn about insects and other animals through his incredibly fun, energetic and interactive performances.

Attendees can pet some crazy creepy crawlies from the Utica Zoo Mobile; The Butterfly Garden will be open, plus insect races, insect tours, and talk with a bee hive expert to show you how to raise your own bees.
