To the editor:
As we approach the anniversary of our nation's founding, let us give thanks for those who, like Martin Luther King Jr., insisted that our nation live up to its highest principles and were willing to suffer persecution from governmental authorities for the sake of those principles and ideals. Let us be thankful that even today, such individuals continue to call our nation to live according to its cherished ideals and continue to be willing to suffer the consequences of their actions. Thank you to today's patriots, Bradley Manning and Edward Snowden, for exposing our nation's forfeiture of its ideals. You will indeed suffer for this, but your love for the principles upon which our nation began will inspire many to remain hopeful.
