TUPPER LAKE - Village police arrested a local man after they said he was found stealing money from a local home.

Police arrested Justin R. Woods, 23, of Tupper Lake, at 1:45 p.m. Saturday and charged him with burglary in the second degree, a class C felony, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

Village police Chief Eric Proulx said a woman who lives on McLaughlin Avenue returned home at about 11:30 p.m. Friday and found Woods in her home. The two were acquaintances, Proulx said.

The woman confronted Woods, and he left the residence without saying anything, Proulx said. After he left, the woman discovered that he stole about $100 in cash while he was there, Proulx said.

Woods is on parole, released from Clinton County Jail on April 10 after doing time for a previous burglary, Proulx said.

Woods was remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in village court July 15.
