Thanks for helping Senior Picnic in a pinch

June 17, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

Last Wednesday, June 5, with rain and thunderstorms forecasted for the next two days, the Saranac Lake High School senior class was forced to move the annual Senior Picnic from Ampersand Bay Resort to the pavilion at Camp Adirondack. When I called Patty Ploof Wednesday evening to ask if we could use the pavilion on the grounds of the prison, she immediately made arrangements for us and made our move very easy. John "Doc" Ward and I (the SLHS senior class advisors) would like to thank Patty and the staff at Camp Adirondack for accommodating us on such short notice.

We would also like to thank Ampersand Bay Resort and Mary Gach for their understanding when we called on Thursday, June 6 to cancel our visit to their beach, which was scheduled the following day. Mary and her crew have hosted us for the last three years and have always been extremely generous to the students at Saranac Lake High School. The resort has rolled out the red carpet for us, preparing the grounds, fire pit and beach volleyball net for the students.

Finally, a big thanks goes out to Saranac Lake Central Schools cafeteria manager Ruth Pino and her staff, as well as SLCS Director of Facilities Lee Daunais and his staff, who so graciously help the seniors not only on our Senior Picnic day but all through the year.

Thank you to everyone for making the 2013 Senior Picnic a success!

Jemell Ellis-Branch

SLHS senior class advisor
