SARANAC LAKE - A local teen is in jail this morning after allegedly cutting a man with a knife at an apartment she refused to leave.

Village police arrested Alissa R. Tucker, 19, of Saranac Lake, at 12:08 a.m. today on charges of burglary in the first degree, a class B felony; assault in the second degree, a class D felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor; and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument, a class A misdemeanor.

Police Chief Bruce Nason said Tucker was one of several people at a Main Street apartment when she was asked numerous times to leave late Wednesday night, but she refused. Police said she cut the apartment's tenant during a struggle.

The pocket-style knife had a 2-and-a-half-inch-long blade, and the tenant ended up with a cut about an inch long on one of his fingers, Nason said.

Nason said the man was injured enough that he sought medical attention, but he wasn't transported there by ambulance.

Tucker appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, but police didn't do any testing to determine if there were drugs in her system, Nason said. She was found with a hypodermic needle, which is illegal to possess without a prescription.

Tucker was processed, arraigned and remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
