Six peaks, six poems

May 30, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

Did you know that the village sponsored a poetry contest? To help promote the 6er program, and in conjunction with April's being National Poetry Month, our local fourth- and fifth-graders were asked to submit poems on the themes of nature and/or hiking in the Adirondacks. The judges were the descendants of Herbert Clark, the first 46er. There are six official winners: Raechel Villani, Dominic Whitson, Forrest Monroe, Jackson Small, Jackson Hunt-Lamb and Steven Poulsen.

Many of the submitted poems are displayed in the windows of our downtown merchants. Please take a moment to read and enjoy them. You will see that the Adirondack Park is full of winners!
