Dentist featured at Rotary

May 20, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise
Last week’s Saranac Lake Rotary featured Dr. Harry Kamen, a dentist from Ottawa, who explained his involvement in fighting the infectious disease Dengue Fever. It is prevalent in 15 countries worldwide, affecting 1.2 million people and even cases in our own country in the state of Texas. It is carried by mosquitoes that breed in flower pots, tires, hollow trees and other stagnant water areas.
While Rotary Clubs primary goal has been to stamp out polio throughout the world, Dr. Kamen suggests that perhaps this could be a secondary disease that Rotary could work on to rid the world of it through education, research and funding.
