SARANAC LAKE - The 21st annual High Peaks Hospice Radio Day will be held on June 4.
Once again, Radio Day will be broadcast from the Redfield Room at Adirondack Medical Center.
Every year, the Tri-Lakes communities come together on Radio Day to generously support High Peaks Hospice & Palliative Care, your local nonprofit organization providing end-of-life services to your friends and neighbors who are terminally ill, and their families.
Radio Day features 14 hours of programming between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. through radio stations 105.5 and 102.1 FM and 1240 and 920 AM.
The broadcast will be streamed live online, which would give friends and family anywhere with high-speed internet, the ability to listen in and participate. To access the live stream visit www.highpeakshospice.org.
Radio Day will have a mixture of on-air hosts who will be joined by many community members and leaders. Time Warner cable will provide live all-day television coverage of the event on Channel 2, dividing airtime between Adirondack Health and L.P. Quinn Elementary School in Tupper Lake, where Jim LaValley, of LaValley Real Estate, will be on location and then later join Radio Day at the Redfield Room.
Radio Day is also dedicated to raising public awareness of the variety of services offered by High Peaks Hospice & Palliative Care. Throughout the day, many will share their personal and family hospice experiences.
Radio Day includes the chance to win dozens of gifts. Local businesses have donated a variety of goods and services as incentives to encourage listeners to pledge. Many businesses and individuals also make their gifts count more by challenging other businesses and individuals to match their gifts.
"This is my favorite hospice event and a day that many people in our area look forward to," said Sandy Bandru, development coordinator of High Peaks Hospice & Palliative Care. "I believe regardless of your level of participation this day is touching and inspiring, whether it is witnessing the efforts of the schools and other local groups or the testimonials we receive from various people about their hospice experience or the cast of dedicated volunteers not to mention the multitude of pledges. It is heartwarming to see so many people come together for a common cause."
This year a Gold Ski pass from I Ski NY will be raffled. The SANY Gold Pass is redeemable for one lift ticket per day at all SANY resort members, which has the benefits of: no blackout dates, valid all holidays and weekends and transferable. It is valued at $1,000.
The raffle drawing will take place at approximately 7:45 p.m., just before the radio-thon ends
