Somabeats and Waluba: West African-inspired dance, drums

KEENE - East Branch Friends of the Arts presents SomaBeats and Wulaba from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Keene Arts, 10881 state Route 73.

SomaBeats West African-inspired dance tribe began 30 years ago and arrived in the Adirondacks in 2004. Created by Johnna MacDougal, SomaBeats dance tribe has been performing all over the North Country with Wulaba, a West African drumming group, to inspire audiences of all ages to celebrate the rhythm for life with drum and dance.

A one-hour performance will be followed by hour of audience participation.

Suggested donation is $10 per person; students are free. There will be refreshments for sale to raise funds for Keene Central School's art trip to New Mexico.
