April 22, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

SARANAC LAKE - April is National Poetry Month, and the village recently announced it will sponsor a poetry contest for area fourth- and fifth-graders, with the contest theme being, "Love Where You Live - Hiking, Nature and the Great Outdoors."

Six prizes will be awarded in the contest with first-, second- and third-place prizes awarded for each grade division. The contest winners will be announced at Berkeley Green during the Saranac Lake 6er Weekend kick-off set for May 25.

During that weekend, visitors will come here to climb the six major mountains surrounding Saranac Lake and earn the distinction of becoming a "6er" and get a top finisher number.

To enter the contest fourth and fifth graders must submit their poetry, which must be typed, to the village on or before May 8 either in person or by mailing to: Village of Saranac Lake Poetry Contest, 39 Main St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
