Connor Gach is in the Saranac Lake High School basketball record books for draining the most 3-point shots for the Red Storm during his four-year career on the team. He also led the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference in scoring during 2010, his senior season.

Gach now has an even bigger prize to add to his collection of basketball accolades. On Sunday in Atlanta, Gach and his Amherst College teammates claimed the NCAA Division III national championship with an 87-70 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor at the Phillips Arena.

The Lord Jeffs, who finished the season with a 30-2 record, never trailed in the game after starting off with a 10-0 run.

Gach, a junior, appeared in 21 games for Amherst this season for 140 minutes of court time. He averaged 1.4 points per game and hauled down a total of 15 rebounds, including 14 on the defensive glass.

Gach played one minute in Sunday's national championship game and went 0-for-1 from the field.

The Lord Jeffs also won the national championship in 2007.
