Lake Placid ER is important for athletes

March 28, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor:

I would like to add my support to keeping the Lake Placid Adirondack Health center and emergency room open, from the point of view of both local and visiting athletes.

If something happens to an athlete at the OJC (Olympic Jumping Complex), it is a tremendous advantage to be able to have them evaluated at the Lake Placid ER and sports medicine clinic instead of having to go all the way to Saranac Lake.

Additionally, being next-door to the Olympic Training Center has great benefits for athletes, coaches and trainers who might need Adirondack Medical Center treatment or rehab. If we are to continue as a national-level training facility in our various winter sports, it certainly is to our benefit to maintain the Lake Placid medical center.
