SARANAC LAKE - The village Planning Board has approved a series of renovations and upgrades to the McDonald's restaurant on Lake Flower Avenue.

"They're basically upgrading the facility visually and size-wise, and boosting the number of drive-through lanes to two from one," Planning Board Chairwoman Leslie Karasin said Wednesday. "The building's facade will be renovated, so it's going to look very different to the community."

The board attached several conditions to its approval, including removing some of the wall signs that had been proposed on each of the building's facades and minimizing some of the lighting proposed on the site.

No one spoke at a public hearing on the project, which was approved last week on a 4-0 vote of the board, Karasin said.
