LAKE PLACID - The slate of candidates is set for the March 19 village election.
The deadline to submit independent petitions was 5 p.m. Wednesday. Village Clerk Kathryn "Kook" McKillip wrote in an email that no one filed a petition to challenge incumbent Mayor Craig Randall, and that three people are seeking two seats on the village Board of Trustees: incumbent Art Devlin, Dave Jones and Scott Monroe.
Randall, Devlin and Jones are running as a team. A petition bearing their names racked up 91 signatures. Monroe, a former village police chief, turned in a petition with 92 signatures.
The mayor and trustee seats are four-year terms.
Village Justice Bill Hulshoff is running unopposed for another term. He is the only candidate in this election running on a party line - Republican. The rest are all in as independents.
