Heat in the street

February 9, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise
A pickup truck catches on fire in Lake Placid at the intersection of Hadjis Way and Saranac Avenue at 5:10 p.m. Friday. Shaun Ondak, who took this photo, said the driver had gone off the road on his way into Lake Placid but was able to get the truck back on the road; however, the truck caught fire here, with gasoline spilling out. The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene with one truck and 21 members, but firefighters said a passerby extinguished the blaze with a fire extinguisher before they arrived. Firefighters provided traffic control, cleaned up a small amount of fuel and returned to their station at 5:50 p.m. No significant damage to the truck was reported.
