Bill Hovey Memorial celebrates 50 years

February 7, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise
Competitors get together for a photo following last weekend’s annual Bill Hovey Memorial ski races at Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington. Ava Day (under-10), Joanna Rosenbluth (U-12) and Alexa Barile (U-14) were winners on the girls’ side, while Zach Zientko (U-10), Nolan Dils (U-12) and Jonathan Neron (U-14) were boys winners. It was the 50th anniversary of the event that was named in honor of Bill Hovey, who died tragically at the age of 36 in a car accident in 1962. Hovey is remembered as a professional ski coach, loving husband of Rusty and the father of three children, Tracey, Chris and Billy. In honor of Bill Hovey, friends and family have helped to put together this annual ski race for young and developing alpine ski racers between the ages of 8 and 13.
