ALBANY - A new website has been launched to answer questions about New York state's new gun law.

New York State Police said in a press release that www.nysafeact.com has been established to provide information about the New York SAFE Act, which was signed into law last week by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

"On the website, gun owners and licensed dealers will find a list of frequently asked questions that have been compiled and answered by experts on this new law," the release said.

The website also has a section that explains the new definition of an assault weapon. It includes photos of weapons, banned features, a list of banned weapons and a list of firearms that are not considered assault weapons.

Meanwhile, state police have established a hotline to answer questions about the new law. The hotline was officially launched on Monday and can be reached at 1-855-LAW-GUNS. It will be staffed by state police employees and operate during normal business hours Monday through Friday.
