St. Bernard students buy a water buffalo

January 21, 2013
Adirondack Daily Enterprise
The St. Bernard’s Art Club for Charity’s November and December projects, under the direction of art teacher and weaver Donna Foley, were used to raise money for Heifer International, a nonprofit organization that provides livestock and training to underprivileged people throughout the world. Through Heifer International, each family that receives an animal agrees to give one of their animal’s offspring to another family. The Art Club’s goal was to be able to buy a water buffalo for a family. They raised $370 from the sale of Christmas ornaments and weaving that they completed in Art Club. They reached their goal of buying a water buffalo and were also able to buy two shares in a sheep, one share in a pig, one share in a trio of rabbits and a flock of chicks.
