Red Storm boys hoops rolls to another victory

ELLENBURG - The Saranac Lake boys basketball team is on a roll.

The Red Storm captured their third win in four games Wednesday night with a 67-53 victory over Northern Adirondack.

Saranac Lake senior Kevin Morgan lit up the scoreboard with 27 points, to go along with five steals, five assists and four rebounds. Teammate Kellen Munn did his part with 17 points and two blocks and Teddy Yanchitis chipped in 15 points and six rebounds.

Devin Cowan hit two 3-pointers and Harley Stankus contributed important minutes off the bench to round out the Red Storm squad.

Northern Adirondack's Daniel Burger had a big game too, with 21 of his game-high 29 points coming in the first half. He also had 12 rebounds.

Colby Sayah chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds and Brady Smart had eight blocks and seven rebounds for the Bobcats.

Saranac Lake took a 34-28 lead into the locker room at halftime, then pulled away with a 17-10 third quarter.

Chazy 30, Lake Placid 26

LAKE PLACID - The Chazy boys basketball team used a big fourth quarter to secure a 30-26 victory over Lake Placid on Wednesday night.

The Blue Bombers limited Chazy to just 12 points over the first three quarters, but were unable to keep it up as the Eagles scored 18 in the fourth to lock up the win.

Tarik Cecunjanin was the leading scorer for Lake Placid with nine points, followed by Chris Kordziel with seven.

Alec Lapierre led all scorers with 11 points for Chazy.

Keene 33, Johnsburg 27

NORTH CREEK - The Keene boys basketball team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday with a 33-27 victory over Johnsburg.

Colton Venner scored 15 points to lead the way offensively for the Beavers. Gabe Warner chipped in 11 points for the Beavers.

Austin Washburn led Johnsburg with 10 points.
