LAKE PLACID - A local teenager has been charged in connection with a mobile home fire here last May.

Ray Brook-based state police charged a 14-year-old girl from Lake Placid with second-degree arson, a class B felony, at 7:16 p.m. Tuesday. Police did not release the girl's name because of her age.

The charge stems from an investigation into a May 26, 2012, fire at a mobile home at 54 Edgewood Way in the Cascade Acres trailer park, located in the town of North Elba. The early morning blaze damaged the outside of the structure, and there was some smoke damage on the inside.

Police said at the time they believed an accelerant was used to start the fire. No one was injured in the blaze.

State police Investigator Jonathan Garrow told the Enterprise that the girl turned herself in at the Troop B headquarters in Ray Brook. He said she cooperated with investigators, provided a statement and was subsequently charged with arson.

The girl was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Essex County Family Court.
