LAKE PLACID - A local man was taken into custody over the weekend after he allegedly menaced another person with a firearm.

Village police charged Lance C. Larose, 26, of Lake Placid, with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, at 11:03 p.m. Saturday. He was also charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of second-degree menacing, both misdemeanors.

Police responded to a local residence after receiving reports that an individual had been menaced with a firearm.

"Basically, patrol was called to residence where a victim reported that the suspect brandished a long gun in a threatening way," village police Sgt. Chuck Dobson told the Enterprise.

Dobson said no one was hurt in the incident. He said Larose was taken into custody without incident. While being processed, police discovered that Larose had been convicted of felony driving while intoxicated, meaning he isn't legally able to possess a firearm.

Larose was arraigned in village court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
