LAKE PLACID - A Lake Placid man was jailed this week for allegedly possessing child pornography.
The Lake Placid Police Department, in conjunction with the state police Computer Crimes Unit, arrested Scott A. Premo Jr., 26, at 11:55 a.m. Monday and charged him with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child, both felonies.
Village police Sgt. Chuck Dobson told the Enterprise that his department made the arrest after receiving reports from the Computer Crimes Unit.
"Basically, the New York State Police were alerted to the possibility of possession and transmission of the child porn, and as a result, they obtained a search warrant, and we made the arrest," he said.
Dobson said police seized about 15 items from Premo's residence as evidence in the investigation, including his computer.
Premo was arraigned in village court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
He was still there this morning.
