To the editor:
In reading the "Mountains & Valleys" editorial in Saturday's paper, I was glad to see Hanukkah mentioned as a "Mountain."
But I must tell you that I had a personal "valley" when I could not find Hanukkah candles in the Saranac Lake-Lake Placid area.
I am dismayed, angry and offended that Hanukkah candles were not available at Grand Union, Price Chopper, Hannaford, Kinney, Rite Aid - I even tried Nori's and the Community Store.
In light of the fact that the first five stores listed are chains (and Price Chopper even lists the candles in its sales flyer), I do not understand the omission.
Maybe we in the Tri-Lakes are not as friendly and inclusive as we like to think.
Sincerely,
Jean Baltzly
