Red Storm succumb to balanced Indians

PERU - The Peru boys basketball team used a balanced attack Tuesday night to beat Saranac Lake 58-28.

Conor Casey scored 11 points, Bret Boyer hit for nine and Tim Remillard, Nick Demarais and Hunter Bruno each had eight to lead the Indians, who had 10 players score points.

"That was a well-rounded Peru team," Saranac Lake coach Dermott Morgan said. "They were better than us tonight."

Teddy Yanchitis led the way for the Red Storm with 11 points and seven rebounds. Teammate Kellen Munn contributed six points and seven rebounds and Kevin Morgan scored eight points.

Peru took a five-point lead into the second quarter, then went on a 13-3 run that set the score at 26-11 at halftime. The Indians put the game away with a 17-8 fourth quarter.



Seton Catholic 30, Lake Placid 17

LAKE PLACID - The Seton Catholic girls basketball team shut down Lake Placid in the third quarter on the way to a 30-17 victory Tuesday.

The Knights broke a 12-12 halftime tie with a 9-0 third quarter that the Blue Bombers were unable to recover from.

Hanna Potter led the way for Lake Placid with six points. The Blue Bombers fell to 0-3 with the loss.

Paige Spittler scored a game-high 16 points and Samantha Bashaw connected for six to pace Seton Catholic.
