TUPPER LAKE - The annual Christmas tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m. tonight.

The trees will be lit at the corner of Park and Mill streets, which were erected in a small park there to memorialize former village Trustee Chad Martin, who died from cancer on Christmas Day 2007.

Martin's mother, Carol Conover, said Friday she hopes Martin's friends from throughout the Tri-Lakes will come to honor her son tonight.

Santa Claus is expected to make an appearance at the event.
