LAKE PLACID - The Olympic Speed Skating Oval is scheduled to open today for the winter season.
State Olympic Regional Development Authority employees have been preparing the oval, and thanks in part to the recent cold spell, ORDA officials say ice conditions are perfect.
Public skating on the oval is scheduled to take place from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday. Speed skating sessions are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 4 to 6 p.m. both days.
