To the editor:
I am writing to ask the village board to take prompt action on the Saranac Lake skateboard park. My son has been skateboarding since he was in elementary school. Much of what he has learned about perseverence, preparation and getting along with other youth has come through his participation in this sport. I have taken him to skateparks in Burlington, Montreal, Glens Falls and Syracuse. For years, skateboarders, family members and community supporters have organized fundraising activities and research to make possible the construction of a safe, appropriate facility in Saranac Lake for our local youth. We have a wonderful opportunity to move forward at this time to fulfill this goal. Please vote to begin immediate work on site engineering and preparation so my son and other area youth can have a safe and durable skatepark in 2013!
