LAKE PLACID - Wing Wars 5, a friendly competition that benefits North Country Life Flight, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wiseguys in Lake?Placid.

As of press time, seven eateries planned to participate, each bringing 500 of their best wings to Wiseguys.

Wing Wars 5, sponsored by WSLP-FM 93.3, is presented by Yuengling, distributed by Saratoga Eagle Sales and Service.

For $12 admission at the door at Wiseguys, entrants can eat wings for as long as they last. Raffles and auction items will also be part of the festivities with all funds benefitting Life Flight. Among the raffle prizes is a Bass Fishing and Outdoor Package donated by Yuengling.

"This event, going into its fifth year, has grown into something special. WSLP is proud to support North Country Life Flight and the tremendous work they do for all of the residents in our region," Jim Williams, vice president and sales manager for WSLP-FM 93.3, said. "Everyone who attended the event in past years has been impressed with the variety of creative and tasty wing recipes cooked up for Wing Wars. This is a fun family event and a wonderful way to have some great eats and contribute to a great cause!"

WSLP Morning Show host, Paul Varga added, "Wing Wars has become an annual tradition in the Tri-Lakes. Along with raising money for North Country Life Flight, it's also a celebration of messy faces, wing sauce stained fingers and tastes like you've never had before."

Participating eateries in Wing Wars 5 include: 2008, 2009 and 2011 Wing War Champion, Wiseguys; 2010 Wing War Champion Kanu Restaurant at Whiteface Lodge, The Cottage Cafe, Dancing Bears Restaurant at High Peaks Resort, Bima's Deli, Delta Blue Restaurant and Price Chopper.

Past years have seen wings seasoned with maple, chipotle, lime, garlic and a whole range of seasonings and flavors. All who attend will receive a ballot and after they've sampled all the wings, they will vote for their favorite. The winner will be announced live on WSLP 93.3 FM.
